Introduction

The Vrijbroekpark and its cafeteria, the Vrijbroekhof, are located in Mechelen, Belgium, and host a range of activities for the community. For our research, we investigated the current and potential users of the park and the Vrijbroekhof, with the aim of understanding their needs, dreams, and barriers when it comes to accessing the park and its facilities. The outcome of our research is a report with a list of design recommendations which will be used as a tool for the Space and Service Design students of 23-24 to build designs specifically based on the users' needs.

Through a comprehensive methodology that included a literature review, observations, and structured interviews, we gathered valuable insights into fostering intergenerational contact and enhancing user experiences in the park.

Conducted field observations in Vrijbroekpark to note visitor behaviors, focusing on intergenerational interactions.

Interviews:
Structured interviews with diverse user groups including families, elderly, and teenagers to gather in-depth insights.
